I say: In my search to find a cheap deep conditioner, I turned to the highly acclaimed Lustrasilk Cholesterol. I've never ever been a fan of cholesterol treatments. Even on application of the product, my hair has always felt coated and stiff. Needless to say, my results were the same. Nevertheless, I am anxious to find a conditioner that conditions and provides the slip I need during this stretch/transition.
I immediately feel in love with this product, however, for many reasons. The price is great! A nice tub for $3! Can't beat that. The ingredients are great for conditioning and nourishment. The color is a pretty sky blue and the scent is fresh and light. The consistency is somewhat like a relaxer so it was very easy to apply without splattering conditioner everywhere. But it's not so thick to where it doesn't spread. I quickly and easily saturated my hair with my fingers as if I was applying a relaxer. (Thanks to all of the ladies who reminded me of this technique!) My hair laid flat as if I'd applied a relaxer. I was very excited. I like heavy conditioners especially when I plan on airdrying.
I put on a plastic cap, wrapped with my towel turbie and chilled out with my dog for a few hours because I was too lazy to get right back in the shower. Rinsing was like rinsing a relaxer, but finger detangling was sufficient on my 13 weeks post new growth. I didn't use a comb and was able to detangle from tip to my scalp.
I rinsed and applied Aveeno leave in (review shortly), Fantasia Gel/Scurl to my edges, and a smidge of coconut oil on my ends and smoothed lightly with a brush. I made one big twist and rolled the ends with a satin covered foam roller and put on my do-rag.
This morning, my hair is flat and soft. I like this cheapy and will definitely keep it around during this stretch/transition(?). I'd like to try the shea butter because I understand it's the bomb diggity when it comes to slip. But for now, the Lusters Tea Tree Cholesterol gets a thumbs up for a great cheapy.
